The way it SHOULD BE.

Stories of the Day

Wake up America! Granting amnesty will not in any way help the Middle Class. How can the Left be for an increase in minimum wage and a significant expansion of the legal workforce numbers at the same time? “’It would be in our country’s national interest as well as the interest of our party if this could be achieved and I want to assure you of my support as this effort goes forward,” King wrote to Boehner. But studies and polls suggest that amnesty legislation, in addition to lowering the wages of American workers, would go against the political interest of Republicans, contrary to the claims made by amnesty proponents.” GOP LEADERSHIP PLOTTING TO PASS AMNESTY IN AUGUST, MAY PUT AZ, TX IN PLAY FOR DEMS Hat tip: Gayla Coletto, Palo Verde RW member

The bigger the government, the crappier things become. And by design because killing the small practices because they’re harder to control. “Despite the predictions of fortune tellers in politics and think tanks, we won’t know for years whether the Affordable Care Act, otherwise known as Obamacare, will ultimately leave people sicker or healthier, richer or poorer. Yet already the law is speeding the demise of an American small-business institution; the one-doctor medical practice. Their problems began in the late 1990s. Government cost controls steadily eroded revenues while simultaneously boosting costs, by stacking on requirements for paperwork and accounting. Some doctors adapted by figuring out ways to see more patients. Others just accepted falling incomes. Now, Obamacare has delivered a major blow to productivity. In a slow-motion version of the problems that crippled online insurance “exchanges” for months, doctors who see patients under Medicare and Medi-Cal programs have been forced by federal law to install expensive, complex software systems that sharply reduce time for patients. For many doctors, it’s the final straw. Surveys suggest that older physicians are retiring in high numbers. Younger ones are closing practices and taking jobs with integrated health systems.” Obamacare deals blow to one-doctor medicine

I am completely convinced that they’d make us go back to living in caves if they could. “I would like to modestly propose that it is time for conservatives to combat the most economically dangerous and statist movement in the world today, and it is not socialism. It is the modern-day green movement, which is not run by people who primarily want to keep the air we breathe and the water we drink clean, or safeguard endangered species like tigers and bald eagles, or prevent urban blight—every sane person is for those things. Its guiding principle is instead to impede economic growth, material progress, and capitalism.” GREENS ARE REDS: And Republicans Need to Prove It to Voters

Please read the whole thing. This man grew up a “red diaper baby” and knows exactly what the Left is up to. “So what prompted me to undertake so unwieldy an enterprise, which involves editing a million and a half words and arranging them into themed volumes? [Snip] The answer is in the nature of its contents and — equally important — in concerns I have had about the way conservatives have understood the phenomenon it describes. Five years into the Obama administration, most conservatives have little idea of the depth of its malignancy, or the fact that it is the product of decades of development that has transformed the Democratic party and created, as is rapidly becoming apparent, not only America’s nightmare but the world’s as well. [Snip] It is for this conservative audience — a constituency on whom the American future depends — that I undertook to put together The Black Book of the American Left. It is first of all a narrative map of the battles fought over the last 40 years and — it must be said – lost, almost every one. The Black Book contains a record as complete as any likely to be written of the struggle to resist a Communist-inspired Left that was not defeated in the Cold War but took advantage of the Soviet defeat to enter the American mainstream and conquer it, until today its members occupy the White House. [Snip] The Black Book of the American Left is a look into the psyche of these missionaries through the battles they have waged over the last 40 years — battles that have brought them into the command structures of the American leviathan. It provides a picture of how they think and it analyzes the why; it draws aside the veil of “good intentions” to reveal the malice underneath. That is its utility, and the main reason I am putting these volumes together.” Who Are Our Adversaries? Conservatives must wake up to the true nature of the people many still call “liberals.”

Bingo! “And that, I suspect, is why Democrats will fight all the way down to bloody stumps to stop Social Security reform. It’s harder to recruit a guy with a fat portfolio into your harebrained class war, whereas a guy getting a government check is an easy mark. He might not be depressed enough to read Capital in the Twenty-First Century, which I suspect will join A Brief History of Time among the best-selling-least-read books of our time. (“A classic,” Mark Twain said, “is something everyone wants to have read and no one wants to read.”) But if he’s eating the federal cheese, he’ll keep voting for Democrats, even if he never stops to appreciate the irony in Harry Reid (D., Ritz-Carlton) getting rich peddling envy to rubes like him.” Get Rich or Die Trying: Hate economic inequality? Support Social Security reform.

Pray, because I think that’s all we have left. “The world is mired in the spectacle of two damaged personalities who somehow got to the international stage, the Russian irreplaceable because he’s authoritarian and the American because of political correctness. The social media man versus the unreconstructed KGB agent.  No substitutions allowed. In this contest, Obama has mysteriously declined to resist though Putin has certainly tried his best to humiliate Obama. Is Obama too cool or just scared?  Either way, nobody gets to change nothing. It’s Mr. We are the World vs the Volga Boatman. Come as you are. Obama’s problems may eventually force the Democratic Party’s to modify the system of identity politics.  No party can ignore disaster indefinitely; eventually the Dems must find a way to restore mobility to the party or degenerate to the point where the worst man wins. That may change under the pressure of events. Ironically Obama’s final gift to Hillary may be to doom her candidacy.” We are the World

Hurting the law-abiding folks for votes. “Jeb Bush might think illegal immigrants act out of love, but it is my love and respect for the American people and the U.S. rule of law, that has kept me in the line to do things the right way. The current immigration laws in America reward people willing to commit a criminal act, and any immigration reform will likely destroy any opportunity I have of becoming an American citizen.” Immigration Reform Will Destroy My Dream

The Left, and for that matter, Republican elites, hates the middle class that is already here. “The takeaway? Hispanic citizens’ lower turnout and registration rates have so far limited their political impact. But if the significant share of Hispanic non-citizens gain a path to citizenship and actually start voting, the electoral map could change much more quickly than what the slowing changing demographics of the country suggest. And that would be a bad thing for Republicans.” Why immigration reform isn’t the answer to Republicans’ demographic woes

Article V vs. Nullification

“We the People” need to take back our country from the big government types. “We the People will know we’re succeeding when all three federal branches begin showing some respect and restraint, fearing that the next extra-Constitutional regulation or legislation will prompt principled civil disobedience, a nullification initiative, or a new state-driven Article-V-amendment proposal. Today they fear none of these things. Tomorrow could be very different. If you want to join on the side of We the People, I recommend you choose any of the non-violent initiatives and get engaged. Join more than one if you like. We are all implicit allies. Keep in mind who the real enemy is, and don’t waste time and energy fighting your conservative allies. We the People really can take back our government from Washington’s Big Government statists. Although they clearly want us to think otherwise, the Constitution puts us in charge — not them.” Nullification vs Article V – Why Not Both? Why Not More?

Because of their success, the Left no longer considers Asian-Americans “students of color.” “But of course there haven’t been overall “dramatic drops” of “students of color” if you include Asian-Americans. They are the largest ethnic group at UC campuses — 35 percent at UC Berkeley and 33 percent at UCLA. This is delicious and obnoxious at the same time. What makes it delicious is that Alejo’s omission of Asian-Americans from “students of color” status so undercuts majority Democrats’ attempts to stop the Latino-Asian rift from growing. What makes it obnoxious is that Alejo acts as if he holds the moral high ground in advocating for a return to UC admissions policies that punished Asian-American students with de facto quotas — in the name of atoning for white racism. Racial justice? Social justice?” Latino assemblyman: Asians not ‘people of color’

Clive Bundy

“I abhor Bundy’s views on race to the extent his ramblings were even coherent, but I also do not think he is in a position to do much about his crackpot ideas even if he wished, especially once his notoriety fades. He certainly is not analogous to L.A. Clippers owner Donald Sterling, whose anti-black racist rants are nefarious, given that he is in a position, as an owner in the NBA, to do a lot of harm to black players, coaches, and fans, and in the past has been condemned for such bias.”Cliven Bundy, Racism, Politics, and History.

“It has become clear that Cliven Bundy was transgressed by the New York Times, his words taken out of context and retailed in such a way as to mean something they were not. Bundy is no racist, and the attempt to make him look like one is another step downward in the collapse of American national media. But conservatives still have a right — in fact, a responsibility — to be annoyed with Bundy. To wit: Bundy did not walk, not stumble, did not swerve into the trap set by the New York Times.  He was not ambushed, he was not taken by surprise. He instead ran full tilt and threw himself into that trap, exactly like the kid at the end of Million Dollar Hotel. Bundy sat across from a reporter for the NYT, the most vicious, calculating, untrustworthy, and dishonest nest of vipers in the entire U.S. media network, and talked straight to him about matters of import and controversy, under the impression that he would understand and transmit his thoughts the way that he actually expressed them.” Why It’s Okay to Hate Cliven Bundy

Common Core

Read it!In Part 1, we took a look at what the Common Core (CC) standards are all about, and their close compliance with the aims and goals of UNESCO and the U.S. Department of Education. We also looked at how there was very little public comment or debate on Common Core prior to its adoption. We also learned Common Core is a “national program, written by a national team,” which contradicts proponents’ claims that CC is a voluntary States’ initiative. In this article, we will look at the origins of Common Core, and a little more on just what CC is all about. And we will also begin to ask who is behind the push for Common Core; and what are their ultimate goals and aims. We left off with the “great bait and switch” grant program called Race to the Top (RTTT), created by the federal government to entice States to adopt the Common Core State Standards Initiative (CCSSI)—sight unseen—by holding out perks and rewards for States that comply with the CC standards, and withholding Title I grant money for schools in States that do not comply with the Common Core scheme.” Journey to the Center of the Common Core, Pt. 2

The Culture

What have we done? “It’s no secret than we are increasingly a rarity. Young families that is. The percent of young Americans getting married dropped by ten percent in just a decade and sits at an all-time low. Birth-rates everywhere are plunging, and the average age at which a college woman now has her first child is 30 and climbing. The majority of children born to women under 30 are born out of wedlock. Everyone talks of a delayed adolescence among millennials, one of whose favorite television shows of all time is called, of all things, Arrested Development. There are a million little data points that paint a picture of today’s 20 and 30-somethings partying, shacking up, moving back home, hooking up, etcetera. I’m not breaking any news here.” This Is Why We’re Obsessed With Will and Kate

The Economy

Again, the Left does not in any way, shape or form, want to help the Middle Class. “That the left has come full circle to celebrating the confiscatory tax rates of the bad old days of the 1970s is a depressing reminder that liberals really haven’t learned much of anything over the last 30 years. In the 1970s, by the way, the combination of high tax rates and high inflation ended with the worst losses in middle-class incomes since the Great Depression. If U.S. politicians are dumb enough to take Piketty’s advice, a depression is just where the U.S. economy is headed.” Why This New Best Seller About Income Inequality Is Wrong

Note to Dems: the debate is NOT OVER. “You can always tell when the Democrats and their media supporters are losing an important political argument — they suddenly announce that the public wants to “move on” to more pressing issues. It is a strategy they first devised in an attempt to prevent President Clinton from being impeached. Indeed, one of their most important front groups,, was created for the explicit purpose of promoting this meme. The tactic failed, of course. Yet, in their panic concerning the upcoming midterms, congressional Democrats have resorted to it once again in a desperate effort to extricate themselves from the fatal Obamacare debate.” OBAMACARE ADVOCATES TRY LEWINSKY TACTIC: The voters allegedly want to “move on.”

Foreign Policy

This is not a joke. “So the leftwing cesspools Daily Kos and Think Progress are now guiding US foreign policy at the highest levels? Well, we’re doomed.” Jen Psaki’s Judgement is Even Worse than You Thought

This is not a joke either. “Obama administration foreign policy long ago passed the stage of self-parody. Yet it has written a new chapter in self-parody as State Department spokesman Jen Psaki engaged last week in “hashtag diplomacy” on Twitter to counter Russian aggression in Ukraine. ABC News picks up the story in “#That’sCold! Russians, US in hashtag battle.” Long story short: the Obama administration has opened up another front in which it is losing to Russia.” WHAT A LITTLE HASHTAG CAN DO

For the good of ‘American upward mobility’ we must win in November. “The quietly corrosive aspect of Coppins’ piece is the message that you can’t win the votes of the lower middle class or the rising poor with a Republican message, which is absurd.  The emerging entitlement state will lock them out of mobility upwards as surely as a chained door, and that is a message they need to hear.  Inequality isn’t the problem.  The closing of American upward mobility is. The time I spent with Arizona State Treasurer Doug Ducey last week talking about the thousands and thousands of entry level jobs he created with Cold Stone Creamery and why such experiences are necessary for the success of young adults on the cusp of entering the workforce full-time underscores the devastating impact of Obama’s jobless recovery on the poor and near-poor.  Every entrepreneur the Obama economy is killing off with marginal rates and regulatory overkill is taking with him or her a handful of entry level jobs on which the rising generation depends for the first leg up.” Paul Ryan And The GOP Bench

Good for him! “From his office in Washington, D.C., he is operating what a senior aide describes as a “shadow party,” lending support to insurgent Republican candidates and churning out a series of policy proposals intended to put the GOP in a better position to win in 2016 and beyond. The proposals, which together Lee calls a “conservative reform agenda,” are intended to serve as inspiration for the party’s presidential candidates.” Mike Lee’s Shadow Party

Hillary Clinton and Elizabeth Warren

This is another reason why Hillary scares me. “In a speech last week to the United Methodist Women Assembly in Louisville, Kentucky, Hillary Clinton cited “the great obligation of social gospel” as her guide. She quoted the following words attributed to John Wesley, which she absorbed as a young Methodist:

Do all the good you can. By all the means you can. In all the places you can. At all the times you can. To all the people you can. As long as ever you can.

Applied to one’s personal life, this is an exemplary philosophy. But according to Dan Balz of the Washington Post, a person close to Clinton says that these words sum up Clinton’s philosophy of public service. Applied to a political life, the words are chilling in their statist and, indeed, totalitarian implications. They are a recipe for government overreach (“in all the places you can. . .to all the people you can”) and the raw exercise of unauthorized power (“by all the means you can”).” THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO HILLARY CLINTON

“More importantly, the release shows national Republicans are taking Warren very seriously as a presidential contender. And it shows that Warren’s political and fundraising clout is a double-edged sword that ensures the issue will keep cutting deep until she answers questions with something that can’t be misinterpreted — cold hard facts.” Chabot: After two years, no answers from Elizabeth Warren on roots

Housing Crisis

The media is always deaf, dumb and blind when it’s a Democrats fault. “These White House papers are smoking-gun evidence of Clinton’s culpability in creating the subprime bubble. The mainstream media’s silence is deafening.” Clinton Library’s Doc Dump Reveals CRA Fueled Subprime Bubble

“At the White House the young Ms. Bell may have put Take Our Sons and Daughters to Work Day to its highest and best use. She took the opportunity to give her father’s resume to Mrs. Obama. “My dad’s been out of a job for three years and I wanted to give you his resume,” said Ms. Bell. [Snip] The D.C. area has prospered with the booming growth of government in the Age of Obama. The growth of the government has something to with the challenges experienced by the private sector over the past five years. Ms. Bell’s father may not be perfectly representative of the real unemployment. Indeed, there may well be more to the story. The AP reports that he has been looking for a policy job for more than two years and recently has been trying to get a job with the Obama administration. The AP dryly concludes: ‘He worked on the Obama campaign in 2012.’” THE REAL UNEMPLOYMENT, CONT’D

Here’s more to the above story. “According to Associated Press reporter Nancy Benac, Obama later gave the girl another hug and made sure to retrieve the résumé from a table before leaving the event. Bell’s father, Ben Bell, worked on Obama’s 2012 campaign and is seeking a “policy job” in the administration, AP reports. By making ambitious use of her access to power, Charlotte appears to be a chip of the old block. According to Open Secrets, Benjamin Bell worked as a director of government affairs at the National Association of Wheat Growers (NASG) from 2011 until an undetermined date, and at the American Forest & Paper Association from 2010 to 2011. Prior to that, Bell worked as a Democratic legislative assistant to Representative Sanford Dixon Bishop, Jr. of Georgia and former Representative Bobby Ray “Bob” Etheridge of North Carolina.” Obama Economy: Lobbyists Hardest Hit

The Left

I had no idea that this kind of stuff was and is happening within our own country. “We’ll get to the good Dr. Dalrymple’s column in just a moment, but to set the stage, it’s worth flashing back to how the rest of the Frankfurt School first washed ashore in America in the 1930s, via a passage from 2010 in the New York Times much beloved by the late Andrew Breitbart for its unintentional irony:

The Frankfurt School of philosophers emigrated from Nazi Germany and became dyspeptic critics of American culture. Several landed in Southern California where they were disturbed by the consumer culture and the gospel of relentless cheeriness. Depressive by nature, they focused on the disappointments and venality that surrounded them and how unnecessary it all was. It could be paradise, Theodor Adorno complained, but it was only California.

[Snip] Naturally, for the Frankfort School, this would not do. Take it away, Andrew Breitbart:

We always feel that our incredible traditions of freedom and liberty will convert those who show up on our shores, that they will appreciate the way of life we have created—isn’t that why they wanted to come here in the first place? We can’t imagine anyone coming here, experiencing the true wonder that is living in this country, and wanting to destroy that. But that’s exactly what the Frankfurt School wanted to do.

These were not happy people looking for a new lease on life. When they moved to California, they simply couldn’t deal with the change of scenery—there was cognitive dissonance. Horkheimer and Adorno and depressive allies like Bertolt Brecht moved into a house in Santa Monica on Twenty-sixth Street, coincidentally, the epicenter of my childhood. They had moved to heaven on earth from Nazi Germany and apparently could not handle the fun, the sun, and the roaring good times. Ingratitude is not strong enough a word to describe these hideous malcontents.

If only they had had IKEA furniture, this would have made for a fantastic season of The Real World.

Brecht and his ilk were the Kurt Cobains of their day: massively depressed, nihilistic people who wore full suits in eighty-degree weather while living in a house by the beach.

The Left has been patiently waiting to get its way for a very long time. “Adorno was wrong. It was paradise. To the rest of the world, America’s vision was a vision of paradise. And these Marxists were here to try to destroy the best lifestyle man had ever created. If I could go back in a time machine, I would go back to kick these malcontents in their shins,” Andrew wrote in his 2011 book Righteous Indignation: Excuse Me While I Save the World. By the 1960s, other than behind the Iron Curtain and their unofficial American outpost at the Frankfurt School, the whole world was California Dreamin’, to coin a phrase.” ‘Microclimates of Totalitarianism’

There’s no evidence that this has been implemented, but as we know, Obama’s administration is not to be trusted. “Cass Sunstein has long been one of Barack Obama’s closest confidants.  Often mentioned as a likely Obama nominee to the Supreme Court, Sunstein is currently Obama’s head of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs where, among other things, he is responsible for “overseeing policies relating to privacy, information quality, and statistical programs.”  In 2008, while at Harvard Law School, Sunstein co-wrote a truly pernicious paper proposing that the U.S. Government employ teams of covert agents and pseudo-”independent” advocates to “cognitively infiltrate” online groups and websites — as well as other activist groups — which advocate views that Sunstein deems “false conspiracy theories” about the Government.  This would be designed to increase citizens’ faith in government officials and undermine the credibility of conspiracists.  The paper’s abstract can be read, and the full paper downloaded, here.” Obama confidant’s spine-chilling proposal: Cass Sunstein wants the government to “cognitively infiltrate” anti-government groups

Conservatives must be silenced so the Left can get its way. “Therein lies the fundamental problem with both Hayes’ article and with the architecture of the ideology of the New Totalitarians: if they insist of dogmatically adhering to their own professed beliefs and insist upon using the power of the state to attempt to target the property of a significant percentage of the population for destruction while being utterly willing to use coercion to silence any and all dissent while willingly overriding the rule of law anywhere that it should prove to be an inconvenience, then the inevitable result will be civil war. No group of people, anywhere, should be expected to sit passively by while they and their property are targeted for liquidation and destruction, nor will they. Those segments of the left that are edging towards totalitarianism are not just threatening to start a war: they happen to be leading us towards a war that they will inevitably lose.” The New Totalitarianism and the Logic of Civil War

Again, why does the Left hate cigarettes, but embrace pot? “Marijuana policy is not straightforward. Any public policy has costs and benefits. It is true that a policy of saddling users with criminal records and imprisonment does not serve the nation’s best interests. But neither does legalization, which would create the 21st century version of Big Tobacco and reduce our ability to compete and learn. There is a better way to address the marijuana question—one that emphasizes brief interventions, prevention, and treatment, and would prove a far less costly alternative to either the status quo or legalization. That is the path America should be pursuing—call it ‘Reefer Sanity.’” Marijuana Is Harmful: Debunking 7 Myths Arguing It’s Fine

Somehow I am not shocked. “As noted, this is not definitive evidence of Sterling’s current political leanings. But if the Clippers’ owner had a 20 year-old record of donating to Republican candidates, it would not only be included in mainstream media stories about the controversy; it would also be considered prima facie evidence of racism. So far, there’s stone silence about Sterling’s politics in stories found at the Associated Press, which notes that Sterling “has a decades-long history of alleged discrimination and offensive behavior”; the New York Times; and the Washington Post, which has included a quote from the Clippers’ team president noting that the woman involved “is the defendant in a lawsuit brought by the Sterling family alleging that she embezzled more than $1.8 million.” Media Ignoring Dem Donations of LA Clippers’ Owner, Allegedly Caught on Tape in Race-Based Rant

A question all Democrat candidates should be asked, over and over and over again (emphasis mine). “Vulnerable Democrats may worry that last year’s Politifact “Lie of the Year” by President Obama – “If you like your health care plan, you can keep your health care plan” – may come back to haunt them. However, with the sluggish U.S. economy and bleak jobs outlook weighing heavily on voters, the “Where is the $2,500 in savings Democrats and Obama promised me?” question may hit even more voters closer to home.” THE OBAMACARE QUESTION THAT HAS DEMOCRATS TERRIFIED

People should be fired. “What’s breathtaking is that not only has the state wasted so much federal money due to utter incompetence but, according to the Oregonian newspaper, the Obama administration will not be asking Oregon to return the money. And it is estimated that it will cost roughly $5 million more to make the transition to the federal exchange. In other words, if the administration gets its way, federal taxpayers are going to have to foot the bill for the entire fiasco.” Examiner Editorial: U.S. taxpayers on the hook after Oregon’s health exchange implodes

President Obama

Never let a crisis go to waste. “Even more bizarre is Obama in Malaysia, of all places, stammering and stuttering on camera, about a dirty old man’s problems with his trophy girlfriend hanging out with blacks.” Obama’s Embarrassing Race Remarks

I actually saw a “Ben Carson for president” bumper stick the other day! “’We’re being manipulated. We’re being played by those people who want to divide, conquer, and control,’ Carson said, alluding to the labels attached to those who disagree with their liberal counterparts. (Carson’s comments begin at at the 19:08 mark on the second video,WPEC Town Hall Religion 2. Scroll down the page and the three videos of the event are on the right side). “If you are pro-life, then you’re anti-woman. If you’re pro-traditional marriage, then you’re homophobic. If you’re a white person and you say something against a progressive black person, you’re a racist,” Carson explained, calling for Americans ‘to realize that we are not each other’s enemies. The enemies are those people who are trying to divide us up.’” Ben Carson: ‘We’re Being Manipulated’ by Those ‘Trying to Divide Us’

Emphasis mine!I can’t tell you how many people are astounded that I am a registered Republican. “Why, they ask, “Aren’t you a Democrat with your background?” I always answer-“High IQ.” I’ve also received hate mail from haters calling me a coconut-brown on the outside and white on the inside. Because I do not agree with their agenda I am called a self-loather. I laugh at these insults because I know that they come from those unsure of their convictions while I am not. The leftists use the minority student’s insecurity to sell their agenda of victimization which they then transpose into votes for Democrats. This party is not the one I knew when I first started voting. I voted for Hubert Humphrey and campaigned for Robert Kennedy. I mourned his death as well as his brother but I cannot conceive of either of them advocating the agenda the party seeks today, especially one that includes partial birth abortion.” The Wise Latina? I Think Not

“A large-scale change in the political and media culture is vitally necessary for the U.S. to deal realistically with the jihad threat. But it is not on the horizon. Instead, the willful ignorance and wishful thinking that Obama manifested yet again in his Easter message rule the day. And that means only that there will be more jihad massacres.” Obama’s Muslim Easter and Willful Ignorance
