News and Commentary for November 27

When will Americans say “enough is enough?” “Branch plus agency sums to 7.298,867 employees. The current Administration added 900,000 employees. The total is 8,198,867. These are the elected and appointed officials and the multitude of bureaucrats to which taxpayers pay annual salaries in order to be regulated, monitored, harassed, billed, yelled at, lied to, ridiculed, insulted, and looted.” Our Obese Government

Will they be just as hard on Organizing for America? “The problem with the IRS abuse scandal, in which the government agency was found to be systematically discriminating against conservative non-profits, is that a complex and vague campaign finance law system gives the government powers it shouldn’t have to decide which citizens are worthy of organizing for political speech and which are not. Lois Lerner, whose boss is an ideological president who was constantly saying Tea Party groups were doing shady things with their money, was in a position to make value judgments about what kind of political speech should be allowed the favor of the federal government. That’s a bad idea. But not to the aforementioned ideological president whose solution to this is to put more power in bureaucrats’ hands to regulate political speech. Yay!Obama responds to IRS abuse scandal by adding more regulations to abuse

“Obama plays the role of disinterested pragmatist, but he’s a frustrated ideologue in real life.” Hail to the Panderer-in-Chief

“In general I’ve been happy on general principle to defer to the fierce critics of Common Core.  Why shouldn’t we be skeptical of reassurances from the U.S. Department of Education that “If you like your local curriculum, you can keep your local curriculum.”  (Okay, they haven’t used those exact words, but you get the idea.)  And with some liberals advocating to make the Dept. of Education a formal regulatory agency for Kindergarten through graduate school (they’ve already become this in bits and pieces), why wouldn’t any sensible person default to opposition to common core?  How long will it be before the voluntary guidelines of common core become a mandatory requirement that all high school students read Oprah Winfrey’s forthcoming memoir, I’d Have Made Another Billion If America Wasn’t Racist.” Common Sense on Common Core

“This federal takeover of education is yet another instance of Washington elites expanding the scope, size, and reach of the federal government and its bloated, wasteful, imperious, and very often incompetent bureaucracy.” Common Core: The Obamacare of Education

This: “Writing at Crisis Magazine, journalist Mary Jo Anderson asserts that Common Core is nothing less than the latest attempt by the U.N. to impose on the United States a globalist perspective with the utopian goals of worldwide peace, environmental sustainability, and economic fairness. In that context, Common Core is part of the Obama administration’s “transformational” education plan that places emphasis on global relationships rather than a unique American culture.” And this:According to Anderson, in this concept of globalism that UNESCO and Microsoft proposed, “a nation is permitted to keep its surface culture, such as language, music, and cuisine. But patriotism, religion, and individualism are anathema, as each competes with the globalist vision of world harmony.” Anderson writes that the most efficient way to urge a nation to abandon its culture and natural resources is to “invest in education to ensure that the coming generation will embrace the principles of globalism as a natural consequence of their formation.” Common Core Obama’s Means to ‘Fundamentally Transform’ America’s Education System

The Left is delusional. “Among the many who decried the Obama Administration’s catastrophic capitulation to the nuclear ambitions of the Islamic Republic of Iran, none spelled out its potential consequences as trenchantly as Israel’s Economy Minister Naftali Bennett: “We awoke this morning to a new reality,” he said Sunday. “A reality in which a bad deal was signed with Iran. A very bad deal. If a nuclear suitcase blows up five years from now in New York or Madrid, it will be because of the deal that was signed this morning.”” Now the Twelfth Imam Can Come

“His goal is not to prevent Iran from becoming a nuclear power. It isn’t even to facilitate a rapprochement between America and Iran. The goal of Obama’s foreign policy is to weaken the State of Israel.” The Goal of Obama’s Foreign Policy

Mr. Flynn, meanwhile, said the administration’s announcement reflects a hostility toward the Catholic Church. “It’s not just those who bomb churches and kill Catholics in the Middle East who are our antagonists, but it’s also those who restrict our religious freedoms and want to close down our embassy to the Holy See,” he said in the National Catholic Reporter. “[There’s no] diplomatic or political benefit to the United States” from the relocation at all, he added.” Obama’s call to close Vatican embassy is ‘slap in the face’ to Roman Catholics

Pope Francis said Tuesday in his first apostolic exhortation that no matter how progressive-minded the world turns, the Catholic Church can never compromise on its “no abortion” rule — it’s a matter of human dignity. “I want to be completely honest in this regard,” he said, Catholic News Service reported. “This is not something subject to alleged reforms or ‘modernizations.’ It is not ‘progressive’ to try to resolve problems by eliminating a human life.”” Pope Francis takes veiled swipe at ‘progressive’ Democrats

“On our current trajectory, the ultimate “new circumstances” will come when the federal government runs out of money to fund the nanny state. The sharp blow of reality may, then, awaken some of the spirit of the founding era, in the same way that a piercing headache reminds one of the virtues of sobriety. It would be much better for us all if, instead, the would-be great American statesmen would once again choose to satisfy their ambition by liberating free men and the American people would rebuild the personal, familial, and local attachments capable of delivering us from the approaching progressive storm.” Is Progressivism Too Big to Fail?

“If you’re going to launch a new redistributionist program to benefit your core constituencies, you need to be careful to obscure where the money’s coming from. If it’s too clear who the “winners” and “losers” are, then you’ve got three big electoral problems potentially: (1) the losers might outnumber the winners; (2) even if the winners outnumber the losers, the losers will likely be more motivated to vote — an especially dangerous problem for O given that his main beneficiaries here, the poor, typically vote at a lower rate to begin with; and (3) if the losers are easily identified, the PR opportunities for opponents are limitless. As Matt Lewis said yesterday, one of the ironies of the ObamaCare rollout is that the sob stories are all on the side of the opposition right now. That’s a big part of why CNN’s numbers are what they are.” Double-digit reversal: GOP now leads on generic ballot after trailing by eight points last month

“The bad news for Democrats is that Obamacare will persistently spring bad surprises on low-information voters during the next 12 months. Accordingly, as Fund says, “Democrats now realize that they are in danger of running in an nationalized election in which Obamacare may be the No. 1 issue in all of their races.”” Obamacare vaporizes Democrats’ “generic” lead

How anyone who loves America can still be “fond” of Obama, I will never understand. But this article might help explain it. “Holding popularity contests is not the wisest way to select the leader of the free world.” The American Idol Electorate

“That deep well of sympathy–that willingness to give the president the benefit of the doubt and the attachment and connection voters felt for Mr. Obama–has been crucial to his success for his entire political life. He has always been viewed as a likeable and decent man, even when his campaign employed fairly ruthless tactics. But the days of broad public faith and trust in this president appear to be over. And no wonder. The fact that the president knowingly misled the public on such a crucial element of his health-care program so many times, over such a long period of time, with such apparent ease, has penetrated the public consciousness in a way nothing else ever has. Incompetence has now been twinned to mendacity. And not surprisingly, that deep well of sympathy is drying up.” Obama’s Incompetence Now Twinned to Mendacity

“The split between the Democratic Party and its leftist hijackers was always bound to happen. The interests that aligned them were nakedly political. The left wanted to push its agenda through and the Democrats would have adopted any tactic to win. The Democratic Party is ready to move on; but the left isn’t done pushing through its agenda.” The Democratic Party vs. Barack Obama

“The Senate Democrats’ decision to nuke minority filibusters allows President Obama to pack one of the most controversial boards created by Obamacare, according to the Hill. The filibuster vote could also make it easier for Obama to fill the healthcare law’s controversial cost-cutting board, another big advantage for the president. Known as IPAB, the panel has no members yet is meant to submit its first proposed cuts in January. Any nominees from Obama require Senate confirmation, which is now an easier prospect. Before Thursday’s vote, Obama’s nominees needed 60 votes to survive procedural motions. Now they need 51.” Democrats’ Senate Nuke Allows Obama to Pack the Obamacare ‘Death Panel’

“Smokers are the only members in a group that includes drug addicts, obese customers, and alcoholics to be penalized by Obamacare because of their preexisting condition. Smokers can be charged up to 50% more than non-smokers for the same insurance policy. The idea was to charge tobacco users more, and thus force them into abandoning their smoking so they could afford health insurance.” Obamacare Slams Smokers with Sky-High Premiums

“If the fan-page is intended to drum up support among the base, the DCCC may have fallen short judging by the comments on the site. A scroll through the page’s twelve posts shows that nearly all of them are comments ridiculing the DCCC’s initiative. Also, as of about 1 p.m., the page had only 18 “likes” on Facebook.” DCCC Launches ‘Republicans Sabotaged Your Health Care’

“And that is why there is more and more talk about Obamacare’s “winners” and “losers.” It has become impossible to defend President Obama’s promise that his health care scheme would make the system work “better for everybody.” It’s also impossible to defend his claim that Obamacare would “cut the average family’s premium by about $2,500 per year.” And now even Americans who receive health coverage through their jobs are growing worried that Obama’s if-you-like-your-coverage-you-can-keep-it promise, proven false for millions in the individual market, will prove just as false for them.” Why voters are finished believing Obama’s health care promises

Win at any cost. “It was never just a health care “fix”: A series of precise, brilliant, secretive, and illegal decisions by Obamacare authors led to the creation of 50 unbeatable election tools — and to nothing else. As you read, try to identify a rational explanation besides malevolence.” RIGGING THE FUTURE: Obamacare Creates 50 New State Databases With No Function Beyond Gathering Potential Voter Information, Real or Fraudulent

Why aren’t we all rioting in the streets? “A day after Obama announced his “fix” that doesn’t actually fix anything, CMS sent a letter to insurers reassuring them that the agency would “explore ways to modify the risk corridor program final rules to provide additional assistance.” Translation: The feds are going to shovel a little extra taxpayer money their way to cover the extra cost imposed by O’s buck-passing, ass-covering, eleventh-hour attempt to keep his “if you like your plan” promise after all.” Payoff: Feds to increase “risk payments” to insurers in return for un-canceling plans

“The media doesn’t mind carrying Democratic water. They don’t mind at all when Democrats push a cooked-up #WaronWomen narrative. They media will gladly join the Democrats in pushing such stories. But they do object to Republicans, specifically, attempting politically profit from their reportage.” Media Continues Spinning Its Biased Coverage of Obama and Obamacare, Claiming: We Can’t Cover a Story if Republicans Take a Political Interest in the Issue

“The Health Care Stack just keeps growing and growing and growing.  The Obama poll numbers continue to plummet, and now Wolf Blitzer is officially concerned at CNN, finally addressed the poll numbers.  Obama is now stacking his personal appearances with hecklers.  A lot of people are making a big deal about the heckler in San Francisco at Obama’s immigration rally or appearance.  Somebody wrote the script for the heckler, and it allowed Obama to portray the Limbaugh Theorem, “Yeah, I agree with you, I’m trying to fix it. I’m working with Congress, but, you know, I just can’t make law any time I want to.”” Untrustworthy Obama Stacks Audiences with Hecklers as Obamacare Debacle Hurts His Polls

“”This is not affordable at all. This is the unaffordable care act. I don’t know what this world is coming to. It’s scary,” said Heaps. “It makes me want to cry… When Obamacare hit I thought, ‘Wow, it’s gonna be affordable.’ That has not been the case… This has just put me in a whirlwind. I have no idea what I’m going to do.”” Obamacare Victim: ‘It’s Scary–It Makes Me Want To Cry’

“If Politico is “hearing” something, it means Democrats are trying to leak the information to the public ahead of the hearings. Politico and Mike Allen, especially, are simply another communications vehicle for the Democrat party. With Americans gathering around the dinner table later this week to discuss all aspects of life and current events, Democrats want it to be known that they are equally upset about the botched implementation of ObamaCare.” Politico: Dems Prep to Trash Obamacare

Is this still the country that we grew up in? “Families USA (FUSA) — an organization that describes itself as a “national nonprofit, non-partisan organization dedicated to the achievement of high-quality, affordable health care for all Americans” — was given a $1.1 million grant by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation on October 4, 2013, to gather “success stories” of Americans dealing with Obamacare and distribute them to the media who often refer to them as an “independent” group. This is part of a greater upcoming effort to bolster the perception of the lowly health care law.” ‘Non-partisan’ group paid $1 million to produce positive Obamacare stories

Of course he did. “Many seniors are, in fact, already losing access to their doc tors, and more than half a million are losing access to plans they liked this year, as $200 billion in ObamaCare-mandated cuts to the popular Medicare Advantage program start to take effect.” Obama Breaks ‘Keep Your Doctor’ Promise With Seniors

By design. “Those who wrote the PPACA legislation were much more brilliant than most conservatives have given them credit for. They have hidden a landmine in the way it all works that will ensure an eventual takeover of the entire health care industry by the government.” ObamaCare’s Looming Land Mine
